App Features

🔔

System Tray Integration

+

Quick access from Windows notification area.

Chargie runs quietly in the Windows system tray (notification area). Click the icon to open the main window. Right-click for quick actions. Enable "Hide on Start" to launch minimized for seamless background protection.

Hardware Limiter

+

Works even when Windows is off or Bluetooth disconnected.

Basic Mode: Fixed power threshold cutoff (e.g., 2.06W).
Smart Mode: Detects charging completion by power drop percentage.
Hardware Limiter works independently, ensuring protection even when your laptop is shut down or the app isn't running.

💚

Battery Health Tracking

+

Monitor capacity degradation over time.

Windows provides detailed battery information via WMI. Chargie reads design capacity and current capacity to calculate wear level. Track your battery's health score and make informed decisions about charging habits.

📅

Smart Scheduler

+

Schedule charging for your daily routine.

Set different schedules for each day of the week. Configure target time and percentage (e.g., 08:00 - 90%). Chargie calculates optimal charging time. "Top Up Now" button for instant charging when needed.

🚀

Start with Windows

+

Automatic launch on Windows startup.

Enable "Start with Windows" to launch Chargie automatically when you boot your laptop. Combined with "Hide on Start", the app runs silently in the background, providing protection without any manual intervention.

Power Delivery Modes

+

Full Power, Half Power, or Basic 5V.

Full Power: Maximum wattage for fast charging (up to 100W).
Half Power: Approximately 50% power for reduced heat and longer battery life.
Basic 5V: Standard USB charging without Power Delivery.

½

Half Power Mode Only

+

Essential for 65W laptops with high-wattage adapters.

Why it matters: Chargie C for Laptops advertises 100W to your power adapter regardless of your laptop's actual charging capability.

65W laptop + 100W adapter? Enable "Half Power mode only" in Settings. This reduces negotiated power to ~50W, making your lower-power laptop compatible.

Benefits: Lower heat, reduced battery stress, extended lifespan.

🛏️

Prevent Sleep on Lid Closed

+

Keep system awake when laptop lid is closed.

When enabled, Windows will stay awake even with the laptop lid closed. Useful for keeping Chargie connected and protecting your battery while using an external monitor or during extended charging sessions.

🐢

Buffered Discharge Mode

+

Gentle trickle power when not charging.

When charging is paused, Chargie can provide a small amount of power (buffered discharge) to slow battery drain. This reduces temperature and stress on the battery while maintaining USB-C accessory power.

🚀

Quick Setup

1

Hardware Connection

Chargie C for Laptops INPUT side → USB-C Power Adapter (≥60W recommended) OUTPUT side → Windows laptop USB-C port
2

Install App

Requires Windows 10/11 (64-bit)

3

Enable Bluetooth

Ensure Bluetooth is enabled in Windows Settings → Bluetooth & devices. Chargie uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to communicate with the hardware device. Pair request may appear on first connection.

4

Set Charge Limit

Adjust the charge limit using +/- buttons to your desired level. 80% recommended for maximum battery longevity on laptops that stay plugged in often.

💡
Pro Tip: For Windows laptops that stay plugged in most of the time, set your charge limit to 60-80%. This significantly extends battery lifespan by avoiding constant high-charge states.

4. The app is safe and does not make any unauthorized system changes

Charging doesn't stop at my limit

1. Ensure app is running (check system tray)
2. Check Bluetooth connection is active in the Scan tab
3. Enable Hardware Limiter for protection even when app is closed
4. Verify Chargie firmware is current (check in Connection screen)
5. Try reconnecting to the device

Battery Health shows 0% or incorrect values

1. Some laptop manufacturers don't expose full battery information via WMI
2. Try running a full charge cycle to calibrate battery readings
3. Check if battery driver is up to date in Device Manager
4. Some gaming laptops with dual batteries may show partial information

App loses connection after laptop sleeps

1. This is normal - Bluetooth connections are suspended during sleep
2. Chargie automatically reconnects when laptop wakes
3. Enable "Prevent sleep on lid closed" in Settings if using external monitor
4. Hardware Limiter continues protecting during sleep

Power stats show 0W while charging

1. Ensure you're using a USB-C PD (Power Delivery) adapter
2. Check Full Power or Half Power mode is selected
3. Some low-wattage adapters may not negotiate PD properly
4. Try a different USB-C cable (must support PD)
5. Minimum 60W adapter recommended for laptops
