Why always-charging devices fail first, and what it costs

Kiosk tablets, demo phones, surveillance handsets and delivery devices spend their lives at 100% and warm. That is the fastest-ageing condition there is, and swapping batteries or devices at scale is expensive.

The always-on problem

A tablet on a charging stand sits at full voltage 24 hours a day, often at 35–40 Β°C inside a case. Published storage data puts capacity loss at 20–35% per year in that condition. Swollen batteries and unplanned replacements follow within 18–24 months.

What a limit does across a fleet

Holding the same devices at 60–70% cuts calendar ageing by roughly three quarters. Devices that were lasting two years last five or more, and the swelling risk that comes with a hot, full cell largely disappears.

What the dashboard adds

Fleet lets one administrator set limits and temperature thresholds for every device, see which ones are charging, and pair new units by scanning a QR code. A device that drifts out of policy shows up immediately, so protection is verifiable rather than assumed.
