The scheduler works by maintaining your phone at a safe, low charge level overnight (typically 50-70%), then automatically topping it up to your desired level (80%, 90%, 100%) just before your scheduled wake-up time. This approach dramatically extends battery lifespan while ensuring your device is ready for the day ahead.

Time at high charge is the cost of overnight charging

Calendar ageing depends on how many hours a cell spends at high state of charge, not just on how many cycles it completes. The scheduler cuts those hours to almost nothing.

A typical night without a scheduler

Plugged in at 23:00, a phone reaches 100% by about 00:30 and then sits at full voltage for six to seven hours until the alarm. Over a year that is well over 2,000 hours at the most damaging state of charge, and that is the calendar-ageing component that even a "battery-friendly" fast charger cannot avoid.

What the scheduler does instead

Chargie charges to a holding level you choose, typically 50–70%, and stops. The phone rests there most of the night. At the time you set, it tops up to the wake-up level, for example 90%, arriving a few minutes before the alarm. The cell spends under an hour at high charge instead of seven.

Why the holding level matters

Storage tests show capacity loss after a year at 25 Β°C of roughly 4% for a cell kept at 40% charge versus about 20% for one kept at 100%. The scheduler applies that storage logic to the eight hours a day your phone is not in use.
